Yesterday was our first day getting to the beach in over a week. (As my children will tell you, this is a big deal, as I promised them when we moved down here that we would go at least once a week.) Alas, the weather finally let up, it’s been raining off and on for about a week… Good ole Florida summers!
The girls get excited when I tell them we’re going to be going. They make sure to pack their beach gear and my sport-a-seat (I totally need the back support if we’re going to be there for more then 5 minutes). They also know they have to handle getting all sun screened up (without me reminding them), and if they don’t they only get 15 minutes at the beach. (Yes, I’ve done that to them for forgetting… I figure it’s my job to teach them to take care of their self!)
We got to spend a couple hours with the angelic behavior I’ve come to expect from them while we’re at the beach. Then, we had a temper tantrum… (Which we’ve never had at the beach before!) Hopefully this will be another lesson like the sunscreen one, it means we leave early!
But in the time we were there I was able to get some pictures of the girls finally, (though I would like better portraits of them, I suppose you get what you get). I’m still working on how to convince them to do the portraits that I want to do. i think it’s going to take being able to set up a themed set that they’re excited about. (Where as with going to the beach they’re far to excited about playing AT THE BEACH… not my “silly” pictures.
I’m also thrilled to announce the arrival of my new camera bag! I have to admit, I think I’m in LOVE! Ok, it’s not even ‘think’…
Ok, let me back up a second. Last Monday was my birthday. We didn’t get to do too much, though we did go one a thrift store spree to start working on a new more tropical wardrobe for me. (And i did pretty good if I do say so myself.) Aside from the thrift store trip, we had lunch at my favorite fast food restaurant (I know… fast food=yuck… but hey, it was GOOD to me) and my darling daughters bought me this years birthday cake, which was AMAZINGLY GOOD.
Aside from all that, this magnificent bag showed up for me. And LOVE IS the proper word!
I brought it out to be able to go to the beach, (and brushed sand off the bottom of it every 5 minutes or so just so I had an excuse to touch it and ensure it was real). I can’t wait to be able to bring it out to a shoot with me. I’ll be feeling all suave with my new outfits and new camera bag. Oh yeah, I’ll look all tropical AND pro in to time at this rate!
